Rotary Drone Tutorial
Hi! Thanks so much for your Rotary Drone Kit order.
The tutorial video below covers every step: wiring, gluing, assembling the case, and final touches like attaching the knob and finishing the faceplate. It's designed to be followed in real time or jumped through using the chapter markers on YouTube.
What You'll Need
Most of what’s required comes with your kit. You’ll just need to grab a few common tools:
- Small hammer
- Needle-nose pliers
- Small screwdriver
- Soldering iron and solder
- Scissors or wire strippers (optional)
- Wood glue
- A clean rag (damp + dry recommended)
No specialized tools beyond that. If you're using clamps for the wheel assembly, great—but not required.
About the Parts
Inside the box, you’ll find envelopes labeled by part type: wood panels, electronics, and hardware. The wood pieces are numbered with stickers (placed on the back), and you can remove these as you go.
Each kit includes both birch and walnut layers to create a nice contrast once finished.
If it smells like a campfire when you open the box—yep, that’s the laser cutting. It fades.
Staining + Finishing
In the video, I show how I approached staining and sealing my drone, but feel free to finish yours however you'd like. Just hold off on attaching the birch dial and logo plate until you're done with finishing the walnut exterior.
